Bought this camera for my 70+ mom’s first Europe trip. She never used a digital before so I wanted one with easy features, and this one is it.

The camera’s on screen tutorial is a great help, and the manual is easy to understand. The screen and fonts are large enough to see clearly. Her favorite feature is the AUTO MODE, just point and shoot. I made sure to give her plenty of extra AA batteries, as it does not come with a charger. USB cables provided allow easy hook up to computer. Best price I found was on Amazon. Thanks!

No near the camera as the P50 Nikon

First of all I will talk about the camera, then about the POOR and irresponsible manner in which my order was filled. I had bought another Nikon camera a few months previous. It was a P50. I could not keep my Wife’s hands off of it, so I bought here the L19. The functionality of the L19 seem okay. It just does not have the feel or the P50. Secondly, the picture quality of the L19 does not live up to that of the P50. It has disappointed us both. Finally, When I purchased the camera, it was part of a package that contained the camera, a memory card and a costly leather case. The leather case was designed for a much smaller camera. Why would they include that as part of a package? I tried various means to communicatethis problem, but was never answered. I’m still waiting. Rex

Easy to use and value for money

I wanted a camera that was easy to use, lightweight and has the basic features for everyday use.

This was perfect with easily navigable menu, most common shooting modes that one is likely to encounter and the best part was the price. Its definitely one of the best at this price!

I have used it for both indoor and outdoor shooting and the pictures have come out perfect. I don’t like to use the flash at all as I do not like to disturb say a group of people in a party by the blinding flash and also I prefer the natural light, and this does a very good job of it.

What a terrific camera

I purchased this camera as a birthday gift for my husband. This camera is easy to use and takes beautiful pictures. We took it on vacation with us in July and it worked out great. Very easy to transfer photographs to the computer.

Great Camera

This camera replaced a 35 mm camera. I love this camera. I followed the online advice and use lithium batteries. The camera has been in use for two months and I have taken at least 500 pictures and many movies. The camera lets you take a 25 minute video, which came in handy at Lowes motor speedway. I purchased a 4 GB memory card, which allows me to take about 1500 pictures. Resolution is great and the 2.7 inch screen makes it easy to snap. I recommend this camera to everyone.

I have never been more pleased with a Nikon camera as I have been with the CoolPix L19. It’s a very easy camera to get used to.I am a novice,so I’m sure there are a lot of good cameras out there but being my third camera I am delighted with this one. Thanks Nikon.

Great little camera

Bought this camera for my 11 yr. old and it is easy to use and to download photos to computer. Must say it is much better than the old Canon PowerShot A75 that I own. Good picture quality for this price range. Would buy again.

While I have only had the camera a few days, I wanted to take a time out to show my satisfaction for this product. This is a fantastic point and shoot camera! It’s not the high tech sophisticated camera for the more experienced people interested in photography, but it is a quality product. I read the manual and found out all the little in and outs and special features for this camera and there were a great many! I spent most of a day testing out the different settings and taking photos. The quality of the pictures was fantastic, the camera was easy to use and I could not be happier with my purchase!

So far I love this little camera and I still haven’t learned all the functions. Easy to use, takes great pictures and small movies. Screen is larger than the kodak digital camera I have which I find very helpful.

Only con: The recommended case (leather)I ordered, for an extra $4 was too small for the camera.

I have a SLR digital but it’s too bulky to travel with often. I bought the Coolpix as it fits into my laptop bag and it’s right at my fingertips. It’s easy to use, although it’s worth taking the time to study the user guide carefully. Uploading pictures to the PC is easy. All in all, a very good buy.

CoolPix Getting Close to Idiot Proof

Bought this for my wife’s birthday because she wanted a small camera that did not take an engineer to setup and was truly point-and-shoot. This is very good in that department if you have time to figure out what all the mode icons mean. It takes a good bit of understanding to pickout and select the mode that is the best compromise of all that you want to shoot but once done it becomes a truly easy to use Point-and-Shoot with Nikon’s trademark high quality images. The icon guessing game is truly a challenge with this one.

Battery hog

Six months ago I bought this as a snapshooter, and that’s about what it is. The size is handy and the controls are easy to understand and use. But the picture quality is nowhere near as sharp as I expected and some of the colors in the images can be over-the-top bright. The most infuriating thing is the battery life. Using good quality alkaline AA batteries, I’m lucky if I can get 50-60 pictures. If I take the batteries out between uses I can sometimes stretch it to 75 or 80. Would not buy this camera again.

Poor Picture Quality

Although relatively inexpensive, I expected better picture quality from a Nikon 8MP camera. All of the photos I took in less-than-bright light are slightly blurred and grainy. I would not recommend this camera for any reason.

the quality of the pics are decent, the camera performs fairly well under low light conditions, which is a good thing. I was looking for a AA battery camera, and SD memory slot, and this is the best camera I could find with those two coniditons for a reasonable price.

Handy coolpix

I have always been a Nikon fan. This is the latest one i bought for my mother in law. Its compact but easy to use, different scene modes, edit pictures, perfect for first time users . I would have preferred to get a rechargeable battery with the set but its been a really great gift for her.

Lens jammed

Worked okay for about a year and a half until the lens jammed after switching from wide angle to telephoto. This camera was a 2007 generation Coolpix 5.1 mp 3x zoom. From other comments here, it appears that Nikon hasn’t addressed this problem

COOLPIX L-19 OK

The L-19 is a capable little camera. Occasionally I have to supply pix with the copy I write and use Nikon cameras’ exclusively. With the 8mp, one can actually

print an 8×10 and have it NOT look ridiculous. The new lcd screen is twice as large as previous models and the software is very user friendly. As long as you are NOT paying $200 for it, it’s a great little shooter. I just spent 5 days in the desert with it and it held up just fine.- EM

Poor quality pictures

I returned this camera because the picture quality was poor. Pictures were bright red despite the adjustment. Could be that this particular camera is just a bad one. Amazon refunded me without any questions asked. I will search dor another brand.

Purchased as a gift to replace step-daughter’s Sony which lasted for 5 years. She takes a great quantity of pictures and complained about it not having a retractable, automatic lens cover and coming without a case. Also says batteries don’t last long enough in comparison to her original Sony camera. Please don’t let this disuade you from purchasing the camera because I’m sure her disliking it had more to do with the price tag than anything else (not expensive = not worthy in her world). Her father thought it was a great value and it’s definitely nicer than ours!

For under $100, I believe this is the best camera you can get. I bought it replace a horrible camera that I’d had for about a year. I only paid a few dollars more for this one and it’s twice the camera.

It’s easy to use and takes wonderful photos even in auto mode. It also has many different settings and adjustments to get the perfect photo every time. In addition to taking beautiful photos, the L19 takes great video with sound, the quality is as good if not better than the flip camcorders.

I was a little concerned about batterie life when I first recieved it, the included batteries only lasted a day but I replaced them with better ones and they’ve lasted well.

As a long time fan of the Nikon brand, I feel this is a worthy addition to their product line. I would highly recommend it to anyone that is just starting out with digital photography or wants a fairly small and easy camera to shoot quick snapshots.

Not very durable!

Takes great pictures. But the slightest little mishap will cause a “lens error” and the repair costs as much or more than the camera. After owning it for 7 mos., it was on a dresser, @ 3 ft off the ground, and fell onto a carpeted bedroom floor. Never worked again. Several people online experienced the same problem. Nikon won’t cover it under warranty either. Needless to say, my replacement camera will not be a Nikon
